    It is the goal of any qualified massage therapist to make you feel comfortable and at ease. The room in which your massage takes place is optimized to this end, and you may enjoy soft background music to help you relax on the specialized and comfortable table you’ll be laying on.

  • What kinds of clothing are appropriate for my appointment?

    What kinds of clothing are appropriate for my appointment?

    Comfortable clothing is recommended, however therapeutic massage is typically performed with the client unclothed. You will be appropriately draped at all times. Most people undress completely, while some leave some clothing on such as underwear. You decide what level of comfort is right for you. Your privacy is respected at all times.

  • Which areas of my body will receive treatment?

    Your massage therapist will discuss this with you, as well as you Doctor to come up with a beneficial treatment plan. Generally, full body massages will include work conducted from your feet all the way up to your shoulders and neck. You will never be touched in any inappropriate areas of your body.

  • Are lotions or oils used?

    In most cases, yes. This is for the purpose of reducing any skin irritation or friction which can cause discomfort. Lubricants of this nature will also provide other benefits, such as moisturizing your skin—if you have an allergy to products like this, please notify your massage therapist.

  • What does a massage like this feel like?

    What does a massage like this feel like?

    Massage therapy is different than the “back rubs” you may have exchanged with other people in your life. These kinds of appointments will generally begin gently to allow your muscles time to adjust, and then will become progressively more forceful—but never “intense” or too far beyond your comfort level. More or less pressure can always be requested at your discretion.

  • Will the massage leave me feeling sore?

    In some cases, yes. Some patients may experience soreness or tenderness after a massage, and this can vary upon the nature of the treatment administered. This is normal to some degree, but you should always feel welcomed and encouraged to speak with your therapist if you feel that your treatments leave you feeling overly sore. You may benefit from drinking more water than usual on the following day or until the soreness subsides.

    Does my insurance cover massage?

    Unfortunately, no, standard insurance companies do not cover the cost of massages.  However, you are able to use your HSA/FSA card!
